The hoard comprised a mass of melted coins, that had been subjected to intense heat. It comprised 'small bronzes' of the Late Empire, presumably poor quality barbarous radiates. The hoard is one of 5 discoveries from the bath complex, found between 1823 and 1825, and appears to represent a series of deliberate deposits.
