St. Boil, No. 80-1.
Hollow gold ring with engraved decoration in hollow: dotted lines and small hatches between two lines, engraved with small chisel, underline the rounded shoulders, three long grooves traced with the gouge decorate the sides, chevrons decorate the thinner area of the ring. The kitten is formed of an intaglio in carnelian, representing a sitting hare, profile on the left, traced in a few strokes. The stone is partially included in the ring, held by a paste stuffing, and by the slightly raised edge of the gold leaf.
The fashion of the ornamentation of the mounts dates from the end of the second and third centuries. The shape of the rings still resembles that of the wide rings of the 2nd and 1st half of the 3rd century.
Dating: late 2nd century - 1st half of the 3rd century AD.
