Fetching coin data
Originally intact the vessel was damaged in the body area during the (hasty) collection of coins by the two finders. The neck is tubular in shape. It has two beads at the base and another at the top. This part was cast in one piece from a lead-rich alloy in a dark grey tint. The internal part of the neck has been narrowed with a lead refill. A second part, also cast, is fitted to it by welding, comprising a circular rim ring, fitted with a pouring spout, and integral with an anse handle. The shackle is equipped with a system allowing a cover to pivot on an axis, absent here. The side part of the handle is provided with a projection for resting the thumb when the object is in use. The base takes the shape of a scalloped leaf, merging with the handle. The body, hammered on a thin sheet of red copper, has an asymmetric biconical shape. The connection between the shoulder and the collar is carefully hidden. The bottom is flat, without a laying ring. (Doyen 2008, no. 7) Sizes: - total height: 295 mm. - neck height: 105 mm. - outside diameter of the neck: 47 mm. - inside diameter of the neck: 38 mm. - maximum diameter of the body: 195 mm. - base diameter: 105 mm.
