Site comment

According to Gillman's records, the coins were found inside "a water jar...in an ancient cistern" at Hebron (Mason and Visonà 2014, 164). Hamburger's account described the hoard being discovered by an Arab farmer near Hebron (possibly Dura/Dahariyeh) in an earthenware pot (ibid 165; cf. Hamburger 1892).
