Site comment

"[The hoard was discovered] during excavation of the ancient bath south of Tiberias... [it] was found inside a room, in a lump baked together by oxidation, without any sign of receptacle. Sherds, dated by the excavator to the 3rd century AD, were found in oblique layers together with the hoard, which points to a collapse caused by earthquake" (Hamburger 1964, 19).
