The hoard was discovered in front of an entrance to an olive press in the Western Quarter. The hoard was "found on a street, and therefore not deliberately concealed, was found with fragments of a small juglet that probably served as the hoard's container. it stands to reason that it was lost during the fighting in October 67 CE, when its owner tried to escape with it or move it to a safer place" (Syon 2014, 126).
