Summary

The hoard was found on the site of a Roman villa and comprised 4 vessels containing 4,399 coins. 156 were denarii from Antoninus Pius to Gordian III and 4,245 were radiates from Gordian III to Gallienus' sole reign and Postumus. Vessel 1 contained a single denarius of Severus Alexander and 1057 antoniniani (radiates) from Gordian III to Postumus with a tpq of AD 264-265. Vessel 2 contained 986 antoniniani (radiates) from Elagabalus to Postumus with a tpq of AD 268. Vessel 3 contained 155 denarii from Antoninus Pius to Maximinus I and 575 antoniniani (radiates) from Gordian III to Postumus with a tpq of AD 268. Vessel 4 contained 1,627 antoniniani (radiates) from Gordian III to Postumus.

Vessel No. 2 Jug

A slate-grey ceramic jug measuring 22cm in height. Diameter maximum 17 cm. The jug is described as 'piriform' and 'trefoil' shaped.

Vessel No. 3

A copper-alloy barrel-shaped container, constructed from sheet metal and measuring 18.7cm in height. Diameter 11 cm. It was closed with a fragment of tile.

A ceramic jug with a tan/yellow fabric measuring 21.3cm in height. Diameter: 17cm
