The vessel was of local production and made from a common fabric, coming from the Jaulges-Villiers-Vineux potteries, which were situated about 10km from the findspot of the hoard. These potteries experienced a boom in production at the beginning of the fourth century AD and represented one of the most important production centres in northern Gaul until the middle of the fifth century AD.
