Summary

The hoard was found with a metal detector some 200 metres south of St. Bartholomew's Church, Maltby. The coins were contained in an earthenware vessel, the top of which appeared 12-14 inches below the surface. The 3,496 coins are all antoniniani (radiates): Philip I - Probus. The 3,496 antoniniani (radiates) were divided between 1,046 of the Central Empire and 2,450 of the Gallic Empire.

A tall jar surviving to a height of 9¾ in., with a width of 7½ in. The rim and part of the shoulder were missing. The body of the jar featured a looped pattern approximately 7 inches above the flat base.
