Summary

c. 500-600 solidi and c. 3,000 siliquae, found in two earthen pots by a labourer while digging in a quarry at Prior's Cleeve. Coins seem to range from Constantius II to Honorius. The list given here follows O'Neil's account, in NC 1936. Among them, some counterfeits were discovered, being copper plated with gold. The gold coins are in the most perfect state of preservation. The silver coins are worn and appear to have been in circulation.

The pots stood upon stone of 8 inches in depth, in a stratum of clay of 18 inches: over the pots was placed a stone of 4 inches in depth and above that, the natural soil 16 inches in depth from the surface.
