Summary

A discovery of coins was made on the line of the Great Western Railway. The spot is one mile east of the Maidenhead bridge, about 60 yards north of the London road, the coins having been deposited on the brow of the gentle declivity of a gravel hill. It was in the course of digging away this hill, that the workmen came upon two urns of unbaked pottery, of the rudest kind, containing the coins, about 2 feet under the surface. The coins were all of the small Roman silver. 800, of which one pot contained about 500, and the other about 300: Otho - Marcus Aurelius.
