Summary
Some labourers, while digging a ditch at the Berries, discovered two earthen vessels containing several thousand small brass coins from the Lower Empire. While levelling a high ridge and digging a ditch at the Buries, discovered several pieces of iron armour, much Roman ware, and two large urns, one of which contained several thousand Roman coins, a peck in measure, chiefly of the middle and small brass, of all ages of the Roman Empire from Tiberius, Claudius I, Vitellius, Domitian, Antoninus Pius, Commodus, Alexander Severus, Lucius Verus, Maximus, Gordian, Philip, Gallienus, Tetricus, Probus, Tacitus, Carausius, Allectus, Carinus, Maxentius, Maximinus, Constantine I, Constans, Magnentius, Victorinus, and two female heads, Salonina, wife of Gallienus, and a Julia.
