Total number of coins

Summary

A total of 934 Roman silver denarii. The latest coin was minted in AD 124/125, meaning that the hoard was apparently concealed during the reign of Emperor Hadrian (AD 117–138). Most of the coins, however, date from the period of the Flavian emperors (AD 69–96). The oldest coin even dates back to the Roman Republic and was minted in 148 BC. Total weight: 3.1 kg. The coins were probably originally buried in a pot padded with straw.
