Summary

As some labourers were employed in repairing a bank in the Hangmanstone Lane, near the ruins of Poughley, they found, about 18 inches below the surface of the ground, between the middle of the road and the bank, a grey earthen vessel containing nearly 800 nummi of Julian II, Valens, Valentinian I, Gratian and others.
