Summary

Two gardeners double-trenching at 'Halton', a property one acre in extent just below the corner where Fish Lane joins Albion Road at Selsey, and about a quarter of a mile from the seashore, unearthed a crock or pot containing 975 Roman coins. One of them struck the pot with his fork at a depth of two feet six inches, lying upon the clay subsoil. The coins were 9 denarii and 966 antoniniani (radiates): Elagabalus - Victorinus.
