Summary

A large hoard of the Late Bosporan staters was found near the village of Gai-Kodzor (Anapa District of the Krasnodar Territory). The Anapa Archaeological Museum obtained 1,061 of coins minted under the kings Teiranes, Thothorses, Rhadamsades, and Rheskuporis VI. The location of the treasure find is situated on the right bank of the Shumrinka River, north of the previous complexes. The excavation of the site revealed fragments of the lower part of a thick-walled clay vessel that apparently contained the treasure. Traces of the cultural layer and numerous fragments of ancient and early medieval pottery indicate that the hiding of the treasure occurred within the boundaries of an active settlement. Unlike the first two hoards (CHRE 18380), the third complex did not contain North Caucasian imitations of Roman denarii with the type of Mars walking, but it did include three coins of Teiran and three imitations of Rhiscuporis VI staters.
