Summary

A broken crock measuring 3.5 inches high contained numerous coins dating from Antoninus Pius. Other objects found together: a bronze vessel and a shallow bronze bowl. The exact place where the objects were dug up was Gate Ford. However, no such name appears on the Ordnance Map, but if it was, as Mrs. Maw says, in the parish of Badley, it must have been somewhere along the line of the railway between Needham Market and Stowmarket. The Roman coins are later than the middle of the second century AD. There is no evidence that the Roman pot and the two bronze bowls, one Celtic and one Anglian, were found together.
