"The hoard was buried directly beside a small rock face which outcrops some 0.8m proud of the surface. From the finder's description, the bulk of the coins were found in a concentration between 0.1 and 0.3m below present ground level and around 0.3 to 0.4m in diameter. No trace of a container survived. Some spreading of the upper levels had occurred, and a few coins were found several metres away. This disturbance can be linked to subsequent cultivation. Broad cultivation terraces, probably of medieval date, surround the findspot, and the area is now planted with conifers."
