Summary

It is not certain whether there was one or two hoards. The hoard(s) seems to have comprised between 100,000 and 380,000 coins: Mark Antony - Maximinus I Thrax. Two hoards were found in a short period of time, 40 m from one another in January 1936 and March 1936.

While ploughing a vineyard. Finder Mišić said he had given some of the coins to the workers who were helping him ploughing, but he did not know their names and in the meantime, they had left their work on his farm!

Site comment

A rather large structure that included a room with earthen pithoi filled to the brim with Roman coins.
Associated features

The coins were found under the earthen floor of a larger, wooden, tile-covered building which had no built foundation and which could be reached by a gravel road. There were only some piled bricks without mortar, measuring 26x16x5 cm and 13x16x5 cm, which possibly served as bases for pillars. A large amount of tiles was found (roof tiles measuring 55x37x3 cm, and funnel-like tiles between 42 and 48 cm long, measuring 18 cm at the widest, and 13 cm at the narrowest part). The entire place of discovery was full of soot and ashes. An indented grindstone was also found.
