Summary

The find was made on three occasions during February 2000 while metal detecting in a field. On the first occasion, 53 coins and fragments of a grey ware pot were found, and on the second and third occasions, an additional 53 coins and 21 coins were discovered, resulting in a total of 127 coins. There was no difference in the composition of the three groups of coins. The hoard consists of 127 coins minted after AD 320.

Ceramic vessel

Three sherds from the base and wall of a 3rd/4th century AD beaker were recovered with the hoard (total weight 221 g). These large sherds came from a narrow-based vessel (diameter 43 mm) made in an unoxidized black fabric. The fabric is sandy, with moderate opacity and a few light brown-colored, rounded, rectangular sand grains.
