Summary

Aureus of Claudius II minted in Siscia (AD 268-270). Found in a pricely garve together with a jewelry cassette lid containing 4 denarii (see hoard WROCŁAW ZAKRZÓW) and an imprint a Septimius Severus aureus.

Comment

In the lid of the wooden cassette five coins were added. The imprint of the coin of Septimius Severus was in the middle, the coins of Hadrian on the right and left side. The cassette was made of yew wood. It was intended for valuables and Roman coins as well as the imprint of the gold coin. The cassette was placed on the left side of the body, probably next to the legs (?). Both items, the aureus and the cassette, may have no connection with each other. At the moment of finding the aureus was a higher layer and south of the cassette.

Burial princely ground. Princely grave III. On the left side of the skeleton. Przeworsk culture.
Associated features

Found together with a jewelry box in which 4 denarii were found (see hoard WROCŁAW ZAKRZÓW). Probably another aureus of Septimius Severus was there but only imprint is preserved. Other artefacts of kettlery and belt fittings were discovered in the same grave.
