Site comment

Settlement started from the Neolithic, a village in Roman time and a large necropolis (200 graves) dated in the Merovingian period. Five insulae were identified for the Roman period over a surface of 14,500 sqm. Th dating of the settlement is betwwen the end of the Augustan era to the beginning of the 5th century AD.
Associated features

The hoard was found on insula A, which was inhabited more or less until the 6th or 7th century. The area was destined to metallurgical activity (reduction of iron ore, forging, and bronze crafts) between the second half of the 3rd century and the end of the 4th century. The metal was originally placed in large rooms at the back of the houses. The area was devastated by a fire around AD 320. This led to the impromptu creation of a new room used as a workshop for two or three decades, until it was built in another area of the site. Four metal deposits have been discovered within or immediately adjacent to it. A batch of more than 200 manufactured iron, bronze and lead objects, discovered in a circular pit of a depth of 0, 70 m dug in the embankment of destruction of the room no. 8 (US 1020), devastated by the mentioned fire. The hoard came out from the rubble (US 1028) in room 3, which was also destroyed by the fire.
