Summary

In early June 1958, 368 coins (4 aurei and 363 denarii, 1 Lycian drachm and 1 as) were found near Barway, Soham in Cambridgeshire. Further finds made in 1977, 1989, 1990 and 1991 bring the total to 471 coins, ranging up to Commodus.

Comment

A group of 21 Roman imperial silver denarii was found in a scatter in the same area of a field near Barway where a larger group of 4 aurei and 364 silver coins also somewhat scattered, was found in 1958 (Robertson 317). The range of the coins of the present group covers the same span as the original find, and suggests that it represents a more widely dispersed portion of the same hoard
