The fibulae are of a type peculiar to Roman Britain and represent a purely Celtic tradition. The chain is very similar in fabric to the smaller of the two Irish specimens (see Arch. LV, 391), possibly the hand of the same British craftsman to whose skill the fibulae. The two silver fibulae, which are bow-shaped with ornamental engraving, and 2½ and 2¼ in. long, respectively, and the silver chain of plaited wire, 2 feet 11 in. long, with a shaft for a clasp.
