Summary

During excavations conducted in the city of Arykanda in 2011, a hoard consisting of 259 coins, was found at the site called TK3. Only 218 of these 259 coins could be identified. 41 of these coins could not be identified due to their poor condition. 4 of these 218 identifiable coins date from the first century B.C. (one issued by Selge), while 214 of them date from between the years 305-457 A.D. Most of these coins date from between years 395 and 423 A.D. Mints (Table 4): Aquileia (1), Siscia (1), Thessalonice (3) Heraclea (2), Constantinople (4), Nicomedia (2), Cyzicus (14), Antioch (32), uncertain (200).

Site comment

The area TK is located north of the Great Basilica. It consists of rooms to the north of the portico, surrounding the temenos area from the north and east, where the prostylos-tetrastyle planned temple is located. These places were used as residences in the Late Roman Period. During the excavations carried out in the TK trenches in 2011, three rooms were researched. The TK3 room has a rectangular shape north-south orientated. The entrance to is approximately 90 cm from the south.
