The ceramic vessel was delivered largely complete, with the larger section wrapped in fabric and a smaller bag containing upper and rim sherds. The pot has been identified as Yorkshire Calcite Gritted ware (formerly known as Huntcliff Calcite-gritted ware), 4th century AD type.
