Axe
A fragment comprising the blade of a miniature socketed axe, probably of Iron Age or early Roman date. The blade is in poor condition with rough surfaces. The surviving socket extends almost to the point of the blade.
The axehead possesses a sub-rectangular socket with an expanded blade and a curved blade edge. The dating of these axeheads is problematic due to a lack of reliable contextual information, although the majority of parallels have been found in association with late Iron Age or early Roman material.
