Silver vessel
Fragment of a silver vessel. This fragment, weighing 147.3 g, comes from a larger vase. The curvature of the fragment indicates that it had a wide mouth and considerable height. It could have been a hemispherical bowl, or at least concave, from which wine was drawn to pour into the cups. The rim is thickened externally and has a circular incision line on the inside. What has been preserved of the decoration consists of two well-defined grooves, just below the rim, followed by a thin rib, and then the actual decoration. This is formed by a series of semicircular ridges, constituting segments of a circle; in the central areas of the circle segments, there are crescent-shaped, recessed patterns. At the lower part of this decoration, one notices a fluting that was probably followed by another ornamental register, or perhaps the bottom of the vase. The decoration was executed in repoussé.
