Prof. Chris Howgego is giving a lecture at the Symposium Alexandria in nummis. Roman Imperial Coinage of Alexandria (30 BC – AD 298) / Monetazione Romana Imperiale Alessandrina (30 A.C. - 298 D.C.), organised by the Circolo Numismatico Ticinese in Lugano, Switzerland.
The symposium convenes leading experts in this field and serves also as an occasion to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the landmark text for the study of Alexandrian coins: Die alexandrinischen Münzen. Grundlegung einer alexandrinischen Kaisergeschichte, published in Stuttgart in 1924, by Joseph Vogt (1895–1986), one of Germany’s foremost classical scholars.
