Ceramic vessel
Comment
It is a narrow-necked vessel without a rim and with a scar on the shoulder where a broad strap handle 40 mm wide had been applied. It was originally a jug with one handle, but its rim and handle were neatly trimmed away before burial. There is a black pitch-like coating over the outside extending from the neck to the maximum girth: the glossy burnished finish is vertical on the neck and horizontal on the shoulder. The lower body is self-coloured dark grey with a matt finish. The fabric is sandy in texture with inclusions of quartz sand and black glauconitic pellets.
