Amphora

The amphora containing the coins is almost complete, although the handles, rim and most of the neck are missing and may have been deliberately removed to aid the secondary use of the vessel. It belongs to a form known as Cam 186C made in southern Spain especially in the area around Cadiz, and originally used to carry fermented fi sh sauces (particularly garum and muria)
across the western empire
